Birth order is defined as the rank in sibling constellation; first-born, middle-born, last-born, only child, twin etc. The order we are born in is outside of our control, yet it is clear that it plays a part in our success, personality and path through life. Throughout the twentieth century, the theory that birth order affects your personality has been challenged by psychologists, theorists and researchers. It falls under the topic of popular psychology which is defined as theories about human mental life and behaviour that are purportedly based on psychology, but are regarded by experts as yet unproven.
Does birth order have an influence on our personality? This concept was explored in a book which looks at the journey of three children, each child having a different page size. This shows the interaction between siblings and how their personalities are influenced by birth order.
