My piece is a visual exploration of a conventional guidebook versus a personal log of my trip to Japan. The design is informative with a personal edge which creates a dual narrative between notions of formal and informal travel documentation.
My personal photography creates the framework around which my typographical design is built. The idea is that the photography guides the viewer through my trip and creates an atmosphere that is true to my experience of travelling through Japan.
As you progress through the piece, the viewer will be able to notice distinct personalities coming through in the design of spreads for various cities and places that I visited. Each location is designed with its own look and feel which is influenced by my personal experience there.
