bed-in for peace
Project rationale: 1969: The year that changed everything. The design for this editorial book is based on a tense interview conducted by Al Capp with John Lennon and Yoko Ono at their bed in for peace in Montreal on the 26th May, 1969. The 180mm x 220mm format represents the shape of an old-style black and white television which would have been typical of the time, with a minimal colour palette of black, white and grey to reinforce this. A combination of serif and san serif typefaces illustrate the debate against a backdrop of documentary screenshots. Large, bolder spreads represent Al Capp, while softer, consistent spreads are used to portray Lennon’s character.
