see you next tuesday

Swearing might seem frivolous, but it turns out, is an incredibly useful part of our linguistic repertoire, teaching us about how our brains, our emotions and even our societies work. see you next tuesday is a celebration of swearing, cursing, bad language, profanity, obscenity whatever you want to call it. This editorial is a typographic interpretation of a number of publications that are based on research that has been carried out around swearing. One of these titles is Emma Byrnes book Swearing Is Good For You – a spirited and hilarious defence of our most cherished dirty words, backed by historical case studies and cutting-edge research. Dr Emma Byrne outlines the fascinating science behind swearing: how it affects us both physically and emotionally, and how it is more natural and beneficial than we are led to believe.
