Investigating the American dream and what it means to Americans today, how it has changed from what it was the 50’s and 60’s. How the American dream has become the world’s dream with the influence of film, music and TV. Looking at what the true values of the The American Dream are, which used to be to get a good education, become a suburban homeowner, have a good job to support your family and of course to be happy. It seems as though that dream has been lost with the impact of capitalism, income equality and student debt, to name a few.
The impact of fame and celebrity has influenced the American dream hugely it seems that Instagram followers are more desirable these days than a college degree. This project investigates how these issues have impacted what the American Dream has become. Is it more about fame and fortune than being happy and supporting your family?
