The Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI) is the professional body representing the interests of Irish designers throughout Ireland. Their function is to promote high standards of design, to foster professionalism and to emphasise designers’ responsibility to society, to the client and to each other.

In September 2011, the IDI asked the Year Four students to create a series of animations for their 13th Annual Design Awards. These 12-second animations were used to introduce each of the awards categories and took as their theme, Design in Ireland. The categories included: Commercial Interior & Exhibition Design, TV / Film & Stage, Visual Communications, Fashion & Textile Design, Digital Design, Product Design, Design For All.

The selected animations were then featured on the awards night which were held at the Sugar Club, Dublin, on October 27, 2011.
