Language has been used by human beings for thousands of years. You would think that by now we would have no trouble communicating clearly. Experience demonstrates otherwise. What’s worse, some people are often intentionally unclear. They use language to conceal the truth, mislead, confuse, or deceive. They do not use language to communicate ideas or feelings; but control thought and behaviour. Manipulation, not communication, is their goal.
This project is an exploration of the sometimes infuriating blandness of language and demonstrates some of the common verbal tricks and deceptions used by an array of manipulators, culprits, advertisers, hucksters, to name a few.
