Disparate Connections explores the rich avenues of creation, epiphany, insight and imagination which have led to some of the greatest creative masterpieces in history. This exploration aims to unearth and visually represent what these discoveries had in common, what aids epiphany and what guides creation. From examining the methods of Jack Kerouac, and how he wrote ‘On the Road’ in just 3 weeks in a creative burst aided by Benzedrine, to how Bob Dylan gave up music and once he had, he wrote ‘Like a Rolling Stone’. Examining ideal brain states which encourage creativity, to social conditions which aid creativity, illustrated within a limited edition newspaper. The accompanying visualization is designed to relax the viewer into the ideal creative state of the theta-alpha border, a relaxed meditative state. This project celebrates creative thought, examines the conditions which led to them, and also explains how to induce the viewer into similar states to harness creativity.
