Stephen Fry’s podcast on language is an eloquent, plea for freedom in the use of language, a reflection on the inconvenience and irrelevance of grammar and pedantry.This project visually displays this stream of conscious ans is not only an homage to the sentiment, but also to the beautiful and artistic construction of this entertaining rant. While damning the idea of traditionalism itself Frys own accent is reminiscent of Received Pronunciation (Queens English) which is almost a contradiction to the bohemian rhetoric, but in fact makes it all the more interesting.
The Measures Taken contains a play within itself – that is – a play within a play. There are different layers of information – and thus of typographic style – within the book in accordance with how many ‘fourth walls’ the reader is looking through at a given time.
